—The little butterfly stopped dead in her tracks.—

—Bird.  Big… scary… bird.—

—Big scary bird… that will eat her.—

—Those were just a few of the thoughts that ran through her mind.  Most of them were related to her being devoured or how big and scary the bird was.—

—Because of that paralyzing fear, she couldn’t move from where she was.  And although she wanted to flutter away, as far away as possible, she remained outside, looking through the window.—

[A flicker of blue catches Maggey’s eye suddenly, and she turns her head to investigate, ignoring Tulang’s demanding squawk when her hand moves from his head. She shushes him absentmindedly, but is about to turn back and put it up to her imagination, because she can’t initially find what had caught her attention.

She nudges her glasses a little further up her nose, and finally notices the little butterfly outside her window. She bends over a little to look closer, noticing that the tiny, delicate insect looks frightened stiff. Almost smacking herself on the forehead when she realises what the - rather obvious - problem is, she scoops her crabby magpie up carefully and places him back in his cage, much to his disapproval.]

Oh shush, Tu. It’s only for a little bit. You have plenty of food and water, you silly bird. Stop complaining. [At this, she taps the end of his beak lightly with the tip of her finger in jest and laughs softly.]

[Making her way carefully and quietly to the window, Maggey focuses her attention on the blue butterfly hovering absently outside her window. Even though she knows the little one probably won’t be able to hear or understand her, she can’t help but talk softly to her as she approaches.]

What are you doing here, sweetie…? Did Tu scare you? [Maggey chuckles.] Don’t worry; he may look grumpy and fierce, b-but he wouldn’t hurt a fly, honest!
